August Deacon Meeting Minutes

Presence: Mengpei, Jian, Thomas, Sandy, Albert, Mary,  Pastor Paul, Flora

1. Devotion. Phil. 3:7-14

When we change our value in life, we may loss some opportunity, fortune or benefit in the word.  However, only focus at Jesus Christ, one day He will show us what we did today is not in vain.

1. Approval of last month’s minutes

1. Financial report

End of July General fund bank balance is $4,109.18.   End of July general fund surplus is $1,936.  End of July Mission fund loss is $3,507. July Love fund bank balance $797.26

1. Pastoral report

Joint retreat:

Need brothers & sisters’ participation.  Roster is on pastoral meeting minutes.

PPT:  Thomas will coordinate the ppt for all churches.  Flora will ask every church to provide their song ppt to Thomas before 8/30.  Flora will ask Rev. Lam if he will prepare ppt.

Night time fellowship: To be discussed on this Friday’s ministry meeting.

Church sponsorship: Albert will contact Michael & Winnie, Thomas will contact Mr. Jiang, Jien-Shen, Pastor Wang will contact Amy Laing & Charles Lee.

Night snack: budget $150 Mengpei will coordinate.

Check-in time: Flora will e-mail Falls Creek if we can check-in at12pm

1. Pastor Sabbatical Report

Deacon board’s sharing: Due to church’s current situation, deacons hope Pastor Wang to stay at CCC to stabilize the church.  Suggest Pastor Wang to take 3 weeks to 1 month vacation.

Pastor Wang & Pauline will consider Deacon board’s suggestion & let deacon board know as soon as possible.

Sabbatical is every 7 years serving. Logos seminary正道神學院 教牧學博士1/15/10-2/5/10 3 weeks class twice a year(6 weeks a year).  3 courses at a time.  $14,000 for 2 year.

1. Mission committee report

Waterbury mission is $4000 under budget.  Sandy will e-mail the expenses details to deacon board & finance dept.  Next year we may consider to go to Waterbury mission again.  Pray for this vision.

VII.  Youth pastor searching committee

Present: Pastor Wang, Pastor Laing, Albert Pang, Cerina Chu, Mary Bush, Sandy Ting, Mengpei Chen, Mike Lei

I. Love fund allocation
-We gave $2,000 to Brother Charles
-In April we will give $1,000 to Brother Lee’s family
-Love fund balance as of March is $1,378.75.
-We gave $1,000 to Mike’s family.
-Pastor Wang’s airline ticket is $422.
-We spend $130 for Brother Lee’s funeral flowers.

II. Garage Sale/Car Wash/Mother’s Day sale (05/03)
-Pass information to Flora to put in bulletin.
-Albert will do sign-up sheet.

III. China Seminar at CCC
-05/10/08. Friday 7:30pm.
-05/11/08. Saturday 10am.

IV. Financial report
-Mission budget (Mar. 2007-Mar 2008). We have $6,000 at beginning. We received $74,652. We spent $59,699. Net is $14,953 for 12 months. $21,201 saving at end of March 2008. This doesn’t include 2008 mission trip expenses.
-General fund still have $42K balance.
-Building fund unchanged at $63K.

V. Church Website
-To be announced.

VI. Pray for houses damaged by storm.
