Worship Dept. Meeting Minutes

                                                                               1/10/2009

                                                                                      11am-

Present: Pastor Wang, Flora Chen, Mary Bush, Wang-hui Yang, Amy Laing, Yan Xie, Jian Lu, Linda Lei, Mengpei Hu, Pauline Wang, Cerina Chu, Joe Gu, Mike Lei.

I.                   Devotions (Pastor Wang)

1 Peter 5:1-4. All service in Christ is worship. As leaders in Christ: 1) One day we will receive glory with Christ. 2) Shepherding is by God’s will to take care of the people. So, we need to ask if this is God’s will. 3) We serve out of willing and joyful heart, not greedy for money. The greed can mean greedy for status, fame, power. We need to ask ourselves whether we are willing and joyful. 4) “Lording over” means to control others to do our will. God does not lord over us. God let us be willing and joyful and be examples for the flock. 5) We desire for the rewards from God. In Hebrew 1:9, God anoints us above our companions. Our purpose is not to compare with others. Rather God looks at our heart with a rich promise to give us an unlimited glory. Summary: we serve out of willing and joyful heart, not lording over others.

II.                Thanksgiving Prayer for all coworkers (Pastor Wang)

III.             Mary thanks God’s preparation for her to lead Worship department and sister’s help and openness to her.

IV.             Making change to Serving Roster

1)      Let Mary know first

2)      In special circumstances, you can ask someone who is able to do it. Also let Mary know.

3)      We will email to Mary and Pastoral Staff if we need to make a change.

4)      We will call people if they don’t see the email.

5)      Suggestion: Pair up people with their backup.

V.                Friday night responsibility

-Mary will let the people know if they have Friday responsibility on Sunday. We will put in bulletin the coming Friday night responsibility.

-The monthly magazine will list the schedules.

-We will not list the Friday night pianist. The first week and second week pianist is Mengpei. Don’t list Mengpei to lead song 1st and 2nd week. The Friday song leader can use CD or sing with voice only. Don’t list Pauline 1st and 2nd week because she will take care of children. Let Pauline know 1 week ahead of time if they want her to play the piano.

Dear Steve,

That is great. I have already placed a message for Beverly and will await her call. I look forward to speaking with you next week (is Wed or Thurs good for you?) regarding how to make the best use of the fact finding and logistics for the trip.

Blessings,
Don

Don,

In your message below you wrote: Also, I spoke with the staff about the vision/logistics trip we spoke about. Do I need to book the pre vision/logistics trip through the BGCT? Also, what expenses will be able to be covered, i.e., airfare, car rental, & lodging etc.? If possible I would like to be able to go January 19-21. Also, do you have any suggestions how to get the most out of the vision/logistic trip?

I will be able to pay for airfare and car rental.  Due to the shortness of time, I recommend that you contact Beverly Berens at Main Street Travel (Ft. Worth) to work out your flight plans and car rental.  Beverly has my credit card on file and has my pre-approval to charge expenses for trips like this.  This will help move things forward as quickly as possible.  She can also help arrange your lodging at a location that fits your budget.  You might also consider calling Dr. Tyson to get some suggestions.

I’ll have to get back with you next week on thoughts/suggestions on how to get the most out of the vision/planning trip.

Have a good weekend.

Steve

Steve,

Thanks for the update. Also, we’ll be working on the mission traing/prep schedule this month. We’ll probably start in April on Sundays. Do you have any recommended training materials for this kind of trip?

Thanks,
Don

Don,

It’s good to hear from you.  I’m glad that all has worked out thus far for the summer experience in CT.

As we have only returned to the office today, I can’t give you a definitive response to the question of a pre-vision/logistics trip just yet.  Part of the issue relates to our 2009 budget monies versus the availability of any unused 2008 carryover funds.  I’ll try my best to ask the right people this week and get an answer to you as soon as possible.

Blessings,
Steve

Dear Steve,

I hope that you had a very merry Christmas. I don’t know if you’ll get this before the New Year, but our church has given the green light for the mission trip to Connecticutt. Also, I have already spoken with Dr. Tyson Manor about the coming trip- July 19-24. Also, I spoke with the staff about the vision/logistics trip we spoke about.
